Netwrix Innovation Week: Netwrix AI – Accelerating Your Path to Data & Identity Security

Oct 16, 2025

AI is reshaping security, but CISOs must weigh automation gains against risks like privacy gaps and “black box” decisions. During this episode of our Netwrix Innovation Week podcast series, we discuss how AI is built into our platform with MCP integration and remediation playbooks to help you gain faster insights and eliminate sources of risk. We also discuss the responsible use of data in our products and how your data remains within your control. Please join us to hear more.

For this year’s Netwrix Innovation Week, we thought it would be helpful to discuss how Netwrix is using AI responsibly to help our customers secure their data and identities.
Although it’s been heavily hyped, AI is already making a practical difference in key security use cases.

I sat down with our Chief Product Officer, Jeff Warren, to cut through the noise and talk candidly about what we’re hearing from our customers, and how Netwrix is addressing both the opportunities and the challenges of AI in the domains of data & identity security.

👉 Explore every Innovation Week conversation to hear how Netwrix leaders are reimagining data and identity security across the 1Secure Platform — from AI-driven risk remediation to Copilot readiness and beyond.

The Promise and the Pitfalls

On the one hand, the excitement is real. Customers see clear opportunities for automation and productivity gains with AI. But we also discuss how security leaders need to balance that optimism with:

  • Privacy & Policy Alignment – If you unleash AI across your organization, will your existing security and privacy controls still protect against sensitive data exposure?
  • The “Black Box” Problem – AI is often non-deterministic. In cybersecurity, where access must be granted or denied with precision, CISOs want to know exactly how AI-powered decisions are made.

As Jeff said, “You need observability. You need clarity.” That’s the heart of the challenge: harnessing AI’s benefits without ceding control.

How We’re Building AI at Netwrix

At Netwrix, our philosophy is simple: deliver innovation that’s powerful but predictable. We were first to market with MCP server integration for data security, a standard that lets AI assistants like Claude Desktop tap into our security products.

We’ve since launched MCP server integration across four products, enabling customers to:

  • Query their environment conversationally – Ask plain-language questions like “What did this IT admin do on my SQL database at 4 a.m. Saturday?” and get a precise answer.
  • Automate compliance – Generate reports on demand, without scripting or complex workflows.
  • Prepare for the future – We are architecting our products to support the use of AI by human operators as well as agentic AI, so customers are ready for tomorrow’s automation models.

But we also know AI can hallucinate or get it wrong. That’s why we’ve designed MCP integration to anchor recommendations in facts based on what our products have unambiguously observed in the data. If an access request involves a data source with known PCI data, the system enforces strict access rules — no ambiguity, no guesswork.

From Visibility to Remediation

The next frontier isn’t just answering questions — it’s fixing problems. Customers told us that knowing where risk exists is only half the battle.

That’s why we’ve built AI-driven playbooks for remediation. These go beyond generic advice. They:

  • Map directly to the organization’s own environment.
  • Provide step-by-step guidance plus ready-to-run scripts tailored to that customer’s systems.
  • Allow teams to validate fixes instantly by re-running risk checks.

In other words: less guess work, faster results.

Protecting Customer Data Above All

Innovation means nothing if it compromises trust. That’s why we’ve anchored Netwrix AI in a core principle: your data is your data.

  • Customers can choose deployment on-prem or in SaaS.
  • Sensitive data stays within the customer’s environment — only metadata moves to the cloud.
  • And unlike some vendors, we do not train AI models on customer data.

Security leaders deserve AI solutions they can trust, not black boxes they can’t explain.

Innovation Week at Netwrix

Netwrix Innovation Week is a multi-day series highlighting the breakthroughs shaping the future of data and identity security. Each day focuses on a different theme — from our 1Secure Platform and Netwrix AI, to Access Analyzer, Copilot Readiness, ITDR, and beyond. The series builds toward the virtual Netwrix Innovation Summit on 22 October, where our leadership team will showcase how these innovations connect into a unified vision.
