National security depends on critical services such as government, health care, finance, water, energy and transportation. Yet all rely on a foundation that major frameworks recognize but rarely treat accordingly: digital infrastructure and communications. They underpin the services every other critical sector needs to function.
That dependency changes what “critical” means. Rather than simply an industry label, criticality must be established within each organization, down to the identities, data, and AI-enabled workflows supporting its services. The real test is what an attacker can reach: the identity that accesses data, the data that feeds an AI workflow, and the workflow that acts through that access. This connected path—not any individual silo—is the true unit of risk.
Identity and data security have been converging for years, and AI-enabled workflows extend that challenge rather than creating a separate stack. This session examines what that means for architectures still reliant on periodic access reviews instead of continuous, connected visibility—and how that visibility can reduce exposure before an incident and clarify what is affected and safely restorable during one.
Participants will leave with a practical way to identify critical paths in their own environments and build toward greater resilience.
