Non-human identities are digital identities used by services, bots, machines, APIs, and automated processes—rather than human users. They often operate continuously, have elevated access, and can become unmanaged attack paths.

Attackers target NHIs because they can provide persistent, privileged access while evading typical user-centric controls. Many organizations have poor visibility and governance over these identities.

By discovering service accounts, monitoring their behavior, , and automating response when misuse or compromise is detected.

Key criteria include: visibility of all machine identities; anomaly detection specifically tuned for non-human behavior; and automated remediation workflows.
